Background information on the Razor Quad Experience.

MY son got a Dirt Razor quad 4-wheeler for Christmas.  He is 7 years old and has been riding the Razor MX350 for 2 years now.  He was excited when he saw lots of youtube videos showing the kids riding it through mud.  He was so excited to find Santa had brought him the exact Razor 4wheeler he had been wanting.  It is the smaller version and not Razor 500.  They don’t call it the “Razor  quad 350” but the motor is 350 watts so I would consider it the 350 like the MX350 dirtbike has a 350 watt motor.
Side note:  we have 2 MX350s Razor Dirtbike Motorcycles and they are amazing.  They have held up for over 2 years with use everyday.  The information here could easily be applied to upgrade the dirtbike to 36V too in my opinion. Finding a spot for the 3rd battery will take some work.

I have seen some advertisements online that show the razor quad will go 10mph straight out of the box without upgrading the motor or battery.  I can say in full confidence this is NOT true and it only goes about 6 mph (7 possibly) on the pavement if you don’t make some modifications to the battery.  My son has been riding the dirtbike since he was 5 and he felt the speed was a little slow.  It was slower than the dirt bike when he raced his brother.   I decided to upgrade the batteries and looked for online information. It was a little harder to find information compared to when I upgraded their power wheels artic cat to 18V a couple of years ago.  I decided to create this video and post to show others how to upgrade the quad when they start asking “how fast does the razor quad go?” and want to make it go faster.
After the upgrade we measured the top speed at 10mph, which was just right for the size of the quad.  I would think that increasing any more speed would require a wider wheel base for stability.  Razor makes a great product and we keep coming back for more.  In the case of the 4 wheeler, I think they made it a little slow but this upgrade makes it well worth the money.  I made this list of instructions for upgrading the dirt quad by razor to help.

Below is a list of items you will need to upgrade the Razor 4 wheeler to 36V

Must Have Parts:

Batteries Option 1: (Easiest Option – comes with wiring harness)

Battery Option 2: (Batteries separate from wiring harness)

Batts

Then choose pre-made harness or fuse cables

The razor site has this information listed for the razor dirt quad.  Notice they don’t mention the speed on here.  We tested it and found 6 mph to be the max speed with the stock 24V and 350W battery.
